About the artist:

Lee Welch (IRL/USA) has an MFA from Piet Zwart Institute and a BFA from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. Welch’s paintings evoke a sense of familiarity by depicting figures in domestic settings or engaged in leisure activities. However, the flattened details and textures of the figures keep them at a distance from the viewer, creating a tension between intimacy and restraint. His work has been featured in institutions like Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum, Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane, and private and public collections.
