Transcendence

permanent impermanence of ocean, land and sky
bleeding into one another at water’s edge
swirling waters, eddies and currents
backdrop of clouds scudding
liminal horizon

Liminal
for Yves

in the dark and dim
forest
in slow trickle of creek over rock
in shade and shadow
wind whispering through dry grass
scent rising from heat-soaked rock
in endless blue
haze melding earth and sea and sky
islands disappearing on the horizon
in liminal spaces
temporal lines blurred
between
I think of you

Flux

It rained in the night, and this morning, freshly washed, presents a misty haze, familiar to coastal dwellers. Yesterday’s galloping waves and rolling whitecaps give way to calm flat, more grey than blue, disrupted only by gentle ripples and flights of cormorants skimming the surface. In the distance the odd tug pulling a barge filled with containers bound for either Seattle or Alaska, depending on their direction of travel. The strong southeast winds that pushed water shoreward are now no more than a gentle breeze. The ever-changing vista out this window, tucked away midst regenerated forest and garden –eternal, timeless –slows breathing to the rhythm of the tide—synchronized to the rise and fall—violent or gentle—of water. Nothing ever is stationary.
